Whoever put all of this together doesn't seem to be all that concerned what people believe because confusion about the issue has been going on for so long that it seems that if it was that important a clear and straightforward answer would be blazing like a billboard for everyone to see.

"All athiests/agnostics will regret their path and beg God to take them in before their death..."
by sabastious inthat's what my older jw brother of 34 said a few months back.
he actually 100% believes that an athiest cannot have a happy life.. -sab.

Curious about elderettes
by dgp inpeople, there i go again.
i'm curious about elderettes.
if i understand correctly, an elderette is an elder's wife who plays an important role in the congregation, even though the formal organization chart would not include her.

Sometimes people have opinions about women who happen to be married to elders when we were witnesses my husband was an elder and it was a drag sometimes you would be tired on thursday nite and at the end of the meeting you would find out about a surprise elder meeting and no one lived near me so I felt bad asking for a ride so sometimes i sat alone in the hall waiting. also book studies had assignment cleaning the hall, feeding the speaker & family and I felt bad telling the others about these assignments because i could tell they didn't want to participate but I had no chose it had to be done w/without others I was jealous of those w/unbelieving mates Oh I can't clean the hall or feed the speaker my husband needs attention they had a perfect excuse and i don't blame them. it's so nice not now not having to deal with all that crap elderette smelderette i'm done.

I don't know if mine is fear or whatever but right from the beginning as a child I would panic on elevators amusement park rides cars planes anything that moves but not boats. in order to have a life I face my distress everyday and it never goes away the only comfort is elevator rides are over in a few minutes cars you can always stop and take a breather I have flown but not for the last 30 yrs. I couldn't handle that its too long of a time in the air and theres no escape till you land and I don't want to turn into a raving lunatic and make a fool of myself on a jet.I telling you this so you know that many others have issues about flying and I don't know what the solution is other than staying on the ground.

The JW view of world/personal events is repulsive, unkind & just plain offensive
by jambon1 inon 9/11, an elder: it's sad but exciting!on a loved one dying: we can cope far better with this due to the resurection.on the tsunami, an elder: if they think this is bad, wait untill they see what happens at armageddon (smiling).on armageddon, an elder: i want to be able to see the people dying.on execution at god's hands, a pioneer: it'll put them out of their misery.on the swine flu virus, a pioneer: it'll mean less people for jehovah to kill at armageddon.on the birth of my daughter, a prominent elder: be carefull not to fall into the trap of 'baby worship'on the death of my non jw grandmother, an elder: be carefull at the funeral not to become involved in false worship (don't sing my grans favourite hymn)on the topic of my non jw sisters wedding, the po: if it falls on the weekend of the convention, you should make your stand & not go to the wedding.there is, of course, a normal response to each of these situations.
there is a human response.
one that is touched by the tragedy.

I thought of a line from country joe and the fish "and we know that peace can only be won when we blow them all to kingdom come"

Where do we go when we die?
by wannabe inwhere do we go when we die?.
there are many very confusing concepts about this subject.
about where we go when we die, and no one i've found to date has really set forth a satisying answer to this question; so i thought i might just employ some of the knowledge i've gained from my own thirty year study of the bible.. where actually would be the most sensible place to begin when dealing with this subject?

interesting that the law in the hebrew scriptures remained virtually the same for hundreds of years they could depend on it and alot of the health laws did actually offer protection. why then if this is currently his organization the same consideration that he supposedly had for the jews is not evident certainly some of the health advice from good old clayton woodworth in the golden age is downright dangerous like radium heating pads for arthritis and germs don't cause disease was that advice some kind of strange sifting policy.

Was it encouraging or defeating when you heard counsel to do more ?
by troubled mind insmall things from our recent elder visit keep popping up in my mind .
one thing we discussed was how much pressure we felt in the congregation to keep doing more , more ,more .......i said that it caused us to never feel we were ever good enough !
if you are not meeting the national average you were treated like a slacker .

you know an additional 15 min would not be enough it would be 15min more the next time and I especially hated when they would pull the never refuse an assignment from Jehovah and relate some ridiculous experience of some fictictous witness who left everything for some horrible theocratic whatever and they found great joy "gag". I started just saying no and people looked shocked that I didn't want to do what they asked me and I gave no excuse just a no and I realized it was over and I was thru with them.

Why all your Witness friends are like Prostitutes!!!!
by Witness 007 inwitness friends looooove you....when your putting in the witnessing/meeting hours.
when you agree like a robot to everything the watchtower says.....{read...underline.....give comment.....repeat} like prostitutes who adore you when your "paying" ...if the money stops flowing they are gone!
people you've known for 15 years....you took them to hospital....lent them money.....grieved with them....gone.

I think their more like manchurian candidates their your friend until they hear "I don't think this is really God's organization or I have questions about the governing body" and then they become your mortal enemy laughing hysterically as you are destroyed by fireballs from heaven.

What's a really good movie you'd recommend that most people probably haven't seen?
by A.Fenderson inwhat's a really good movie you'd recommend that most people probably haven't seen?.
my personal recommendation: synecdoche, new york.
it's one of those movies that words fail utterly to capture--which really is the hallmark of a good movie, i suppose.
